Employment Pass

For expatriates working for a minimum period of 2 years with minimum salary of RM10,000.00 per month or its equivalent in any foreign currency.

Professional Visit Pass

For foreign nationals who remain employed by the company in the home country but are required by a Malaysian company to provide certain services for a period up to 12 months

Residence Pass

For eligible expatriates who have been working for a minimum period of 3 years. Unlike an employment pass, Residence Pass has the advantage of not being tied to an employer and it can be issued for a longer period. It is available for highly skilled expatriates seeking to continue and living in Malaysia.

Immigration Facilities for Dependants of Expatriate

Dependant Pass

This facility is accorded to families of Expatriate.

  1. Who are eligible for the Dependant Pass?
    Husband/wife | Children under the age of 21 | Handicapped/disabled children | Legally adopted children
  2. Application Procedures
    The application for the Dependant Pass can be submitted together with the application for the Employment Pass or after the application for the Employment Pass has been approved.
  3. Supporting documents for the application of the Dependant Pass (including but not limited)
    Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company | Form DP11A with recent passport size photograph | Proof of relationship with the Expatriate (a translated copy has to be certified by an Embassy official if the document is neither written in English nor in the Malay Language) | A photocopy of the complete Dependant's Passport (Two copies for PRC citizens) | A photocopy of the complete Expatriate's Passport
  4. Fees Charged
    Pass - RM90.00 per year or part thereof | Processing fee - RM50.00 | Journey Performed Visa Fee - RM500.00 (if relevant) | Visa fee - according to the nationality of the individual.

Long Term Social Visit Pass

  1. Who are eligible for Long Term Social Visit Pass?
    Husband/wife | children under 21 years old of Expatriate holding the Visitor’s Pass (Temporary Employment)
  2. Application Procedures
    This Pass can be applied together with an application for Visitor’s Pass (Temporary Employment) of Expatriate or after application for Visitor’s Pass (Temporary Employment) of Expatriate has been approved.
  3. Supporting documents for the application of the Long Term Social Visit Pass (including but not limited)
    Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company | Form DP11A with recent passport size photograph | Proof of relationship with the Expatriate (a translated copy has to be certified by an Embassy official if the document is neither written in English nor in the Malay language) | A photocopy of the complete Dependant's Passport (Two copies for PRC citizens) | A photocopy of the complete Expatriate's Passport

Social Visit Pass

  1. Who are eligible for the Social Visit Pass?
    Parents of Expatriate | Common law wife (required to have confirmation from the Embassy) | Children under 21 years old | Step-children
  2. Application Procedures
    Application for the Social Visit Pass can be submitted together with an application for Employment Pass or after the application for Employment Pass has been approved.
  3. Supporting documents for the application of the Social Visit Pass
    Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company | Form DP11A with recent passport size photograph | Personal Bond (RM10.00 Stamped) | Proof of relationship with the Expatriate (a translated copy has to be certified by an Embassy official if the document is neither written in English or in the Malay Language) | A photocopy of the complete Dependant's Passport (Two copies for PRC citizen) | A photocopy of the complete Expatriate's Passport

Permission to conduct Charity Works

  1. Who is eligible?
    Wife of Expatriate Officer holding the Dependant Pass
  2. Application Procedures
    Application to be submitted in writing to the Director General Immigration or Director of Employment Pass Division or Director of Immigration in the various States | Does not have any fixed income | not involved in any activities which are contrary to the local culture
  3. Charity Works include:
    Old Folks’ Home | Disabled/Handicapped Children’s Home | Orphanage | Welfare Home (a letter from the Welfare Association) | Red Crescent | Special cases as decided by the Director General of Immigration
  4. Supporting documents for application for permission to conduct Charity Works
    Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company | Offer Letter | A copy of the Passport that shows proof of the Dependant Pass

Educational Facilities for children of Expatriate Officers

  1. Who are eligible?
    Children of Expatriate Officers who are 18 years old and below | Holder of the Dependant Pass who has been given approval prior to applying for a Student Pass
  2. Requirements
    Studying in a school or an institution which is recognised by the Government | Fulfilling all the requirements of a Student Pass application
  3. Supporting documents for application (including but not limited)
    Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company | Letter of confirmation from the Institute of Higher Learning/Secondary School/Primarily School/Pre-school | Copies of the Expatriate’s and the Dependant’s (Student) Passports | Student's Personal Data Form | Other relevant documents

Working conditions for Dependant Pass holder

The Husband/Wife of the Expatriate Officer holding the Dependant Pass is permitted to work without having to change his/her Dependant Pass to the Employment Pass on condition that he/she acquires working approval from the Immigration Department

  1. Terms and conditions
    Job Offer from any company/Government Agency | Prior approval from approving agencies such as: MIDA, MDEC, Bank Negara, Securities Commission, Public Services Department | For those without approval from any agency, application is subjected to conditions laid down by the Expatriate Committee.
  2. Procedures - Work Permit by Endorsement
    Applications can be submitted to the Employment Pass Division of the Immigration Headquarter Putrajaya or the nearest Immigration Office in any state | Applications for Work Permit by Endorsement can be submitted on approval of the Dependant Pass or after its issuance
  3. Supporting documents for application (including but not limited)
    Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company | DP11 Form | Job offer or Employment Contract | A photocopy of the complete passport.

Approval of Foreign Domestic Helper for Expatriate Officer

Approval is given to the expatriate who intends to bring in a foreign domestic helper regardless of nationality and age of the helper.

  1. Application Procedures
    Applications can be submitted before or after the Expatriate’s entry into Malaysia.
  2. Supporting documents for application:
    Cover letter from the Expatriate’s Employer | DP11A Form | Personal Bond which has been stamped with a RM10.00 revenue stamp | Relevant photocopies of passport pages showing recent entry of FDH into Malaysia | Cleared the medical examination at any clinic registered with FOMEMA | Employment Contract (duly Stamped) | Approval from the Philippines Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) for Filipino domestic helpers only
